Batik Majalengka Sets MURI Record, Inge Rahayu Receives Recognition from Regent Eman Suherman

Majalengka, Indonesia – A milestone achievement in the preservation and promotion of Indonesian heritage was marked when Batik Majalengka set a new record recognized by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI). The recognition came through the Wastra Nusantara Batik Auction, led by Inge Rahayu Riyandini, a Class II Auction Officer from Cirebon.

The event, conducted in a hybrid format combining in-person participation at the DJKN office and an online platform, successfully showcased a variety of regional batik works. Among them, Batik Miranti from Majalengka stood out, capturing national attention and solidifying its place within the historic record.

“This auction proves that local culture can be professionally packaged and embraced by both national and international markets. Batik Majalengka has become a symbol of our cultural pride, contributing to this national recognition,” Inge remarked during the ceremony.

Her role, bridging the legal sector and cultural promotion, underscores a pioneering approach to heritage preservation. As a Notary and Land Deed Official (PPAT), Inge emphasized that auctions extend beyond economics, serving also as an educational tool to highlight legality, integrity, and innovation in promoting traditional products.

The achievement was met with high praise from Majalengka Regent H. Eman Suherman, who personally commended Inge during an official audience at the Pendopo Majalengka on Friday (25/07/2025). “This success shows that collaboration across professions can be a powerful force in advancing the region. Beyond batik, other local products also deserve to be elevated through such innovative platforms,” he noted.

The gathering became a forum for dialogue between government, auction professionals, and batik artisans, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in empowering the creative economy. Inge expressed her gratitude to the regional administration and local entrepreneurs, dedicating the achievement to Majalengka and its cultural guardians.

“This record is for Majalengka and all cultural fighters. I hope the synergy between law and culture continues to grow as a new strength in supporting creative industries,” she said.

The MURI recognition stands not only as a cultural achievement but also as a model of how formal economic mechanisms such as auctions can elevate local products, strengthen regional branding, and expand their reach in national and international markets.
