Philippines Scores 3 Major Nominations at 2025 Wanderlust Travel Awards

July 31, 2025

Manila – The Philippines has earned prominent recognition on the global stage with three major nominations at the upcoming 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, one of the most respected accolades in the international travel industry.

According to an official statement from the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday, the country is in the running for “Most Desirable Country (Rest of World)”, the flagship category of the awards organized by Wanderlust, the UK’s oldest and most influential travel magazine.

Joining the country in the spotlight are two of its most iconic destinations:

  • Cebu, nominated for Most Desirable Region (Rest of World)
  • Palawan, nominated for Most Desirable Island (Rest of World)

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco welcomed the announcement with gratitude and pride. “This recognition is a reflection of our country’s natural wonders, deep-rooted heritage, and the warm hospitality of the Filipino people,” she stated, calling on Filipinos worldwide and international friends to cast their votes in support.

In addition to the main categories, the Philippines is also eligible for awards in several specialized subcategories, including:

  • Culture and Heritage
  • Nature and Wildlife
  • Adventure
  • Gastronomy
  • Sustainability

Public voting is now open at wanderlusttravelawards.com and will run until October 27, 2025. The winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony to be held at the National Gallery in London on November 5, 2025.

The nominations come at a time when the Philippines is increasingly being positioned as a top-tier luxury and experiential destination in Southeast Asia. With Cebu’s vibrant culture and beach offerings and Palawan’s world-renowned lagoons and biodiversity, the archipelago continues to captivate global travelers seeking authenticity, diversity, and connection.

The DOT’s latest global recognition reinforces the country’s momentum in re-establishing itself as a premier travel destination post-pandemic—one where natural elegance, immersive culture, and world-class service converge to deliver an unforgettable experience.

For Filipinos at home and abroad, it’s more than a tourism award—it’s an invitation to celebrate national pride on a global platform.
