detikcom Wins World Islamic Tourism & Trade Award 2025 in Malaysia

Selangor — detikcom has been recognized with the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Award 2025 for Outstanding Media Excellence in Islamic Tourism Promotion. The accolade was presented by the Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA) in collaboration with World Islamic Tourism and Trade, acknowledging the platform’s vital role in promoting the halal industry and Muslim-friendly tourism.

The selection process for the award was highly competitive, involving hundreds of media outlets from both Malaysia and Indonesia. Evaluation was further supported by the Asian Federation of Umrah & Hajj (AFUH). According to MATA President Dato’ Seri Dr. H. Mohd Khalid Harun, detikcom stood out for its consistency and depth in reporting. “detikcom has been consistently active in delivering meaningful, enlightening coverage on Islamic tourism. We hope detikcom continues to champion this important campaign,” he stated during the award ceremony at Sunway Resort Hotel, Selangor, on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Representing detikcom at the event, Managing Editor Erwin Dariyanto accepted the award, underscoring the company’s commitment to shaping conversations around Islamic tourism and the halal economy. The recognition placed detikcom among distinguished awardees, including figures and institutions from Indonesia such as Halal Lifestyle Indonesia Chairman Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), and Hajj and Umrah travel operator PT Alhamdi.

Now in its third year, the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Award was conferred at the closing of the World Islamic Tourism & Trade Expo (WITEX 2025) and World Cultural & Arts Festival (WCAF 2025). These events attracted more than 25,000 visitors, featured over 150 exhibitors, welcomed 300 buyers, and hosted delegations from 12 countries.

Beyond exhibitions, WITEX and WCAF 2025 served as a convening ground for ministerial-level leaders and global CEOs. Together, they explored strategies to position Islamic tourism as a powerful driver of economic growth and cultural exchange worldwide.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to detikcom for amplifying our efforts,” Mohd Khalid Harun concluded, reinforcing the award’s recognition of the media’s enduring contribution to advancing Islamic tourism.
