Indonesia continues to produce globally-minded youth, as eight students earned prestigious awards at the Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN) X in Kuala Lumpur. They competed with over 258 delegates from 27 countries and proved their capabilities in diplomacy, critical thinking, and global awareness.
IGN President Muhammad Fahrizal described the performance of the Indonesian delegates as inspiring, noting that they represented the country with both intelligence and heart.
The AWMUN conference simulated four major UN councils, providing students with a taste of real-world diplomacy. The Indonesian delegates stood out in categories like Best Delegate, Most Outstanding Delegate, and Verbal Commendation.
These accolades are officially recognized by the Indonesian government, through Puspresnas, and can be added to students’ academic records.
Fahrizal also pointed out that participating in forums like AWMUN helps students develop essential life skills, such as public speaking, collaboration, and leadership.
This year’s theme focused on the 5th Industrial Revolution, inviting students to reflect on how their generation can help shape a sustainable future.
The awardees include Kenzio Muhammad Raharjo, Yahya Abdullah Mahmudi, and Shane Kingston James Mulyanto, among others, who came from both national and international schools.
